Trekking in Morocco: Camel riding, desert camp, and Nomad life
Overview of the trekking in Morocco:
We start the M’hamid desert trekking experience by picking you up from your accommodation after having your breakfast. You will begin by exploring the Elmezouaria dunes. Then, the Trek will continue on flat but rocky terrain (hammada) until you arrive in Oasis Oum Laalag. Later, our trekking guides will head us to the dunes of Erg Chegaga, the most famous dunes in the region. From there, our trekking experience in the desert will lead us to explore the Erg Bougarne. Our trekking adventure will also include a trip from the dunes to Erg Bougarne. At the end of the day, you will enjoy the night in magnificent camps in the desert (each day you will camp at a different place in the Sahara Desert). Finally, our trekking tour ends at M’hamid.

6-day Trekking Sahara from M’hamid el Ghizlane, detailed itinerary:
1st DAY: The trekking desert starts from M´HAMID EL GHIZLANE to ELMEZOUARIA DUNES
We will meet you early In the M’hamid desert to start our trekking Sahara from your hotel or camping site. The team will be waiting for us with camels to start our trekking desert trip. The guides of trekking will explain to you the most important things you need to know about the desert Trek and what you will do. First, it’s important to know how to wear your turban (Desert Chech) in the traditional way to protect you from the sun, how to trek and ride the camels, and how to choose the best site in the desert to spend the night. When you’re ready, we will start our trekking Sahara tour from M´Hamid heading to the dunes of Elmezouaria, where we will camp the first night in Berber tents in the sahara desert.
2nd DAY: The Trek starts FROM THE DUNES OF ELMEZOUARIA TO the OASIS OF OUM LAALAG
Wake up earlier to watch the beautiful sunrise over the dunes, then we will start our second day of the trekking desert. The first few kilometers will be breathtaking and easy to hike. Then, we will hike the flat and rocky ground of hammada. The trekking Sahara will take 4 hours before we reach the oasis of Oum Laalag, where we are going to pass our second night in a Nomad traditional tents.
3rd DAY: The trek starts FROM THE OASIS OF OUM LAALAG TO ERG CHEGAGA
That day will be unique because we will reach the enormous sand dunes of Erg Chegaga. After having a traditional breakfast at sunrise, we have to hike again on the rocky, flat, and sandy area. While you’re trekking in the desert, the big dunes of Erg Chegaga will be seen even before reach it. Once we arrived at Erg Chegaga, we will attend the breathtaking sunset from the biggest dunes in North Africa and Morocco. The hiking dunes of Erg Chegaga will allow you to live a memorable desert adventure in Morocco. Erg Chigaga is a famous place covering one of the highest dunes in Morocco and in Africa as well. The trek takes about 30 min to reach the top of the dune. We will camp in these beautiful dunes in Nomadic traditional tents.
4th DAY: The trek starts FROM ERG CHEGAGA TO ERG Bougarne
The trek from Erg Chegaga to Erg Bougarne takes hours. This desert trekking trip will be adventurous by this experience. After a relaxing night, you will cross up and down from one dune to another. The trek will be challenging, but the best thing is that we will be with professional trekking guides who have been trekking the desert for several years and grow in the desert. You will enjoy the panoramic view of the waves of the dunes and admire the melody of the wind.
5th DAY: The Trek starts FROM ERG Bougarne TO ERg loutide
This is the last trekking Sahara day in the dunes. The trek will start after having your breakfast, then you will walk for few kilometers to reach the Erg Loutide. Which is totally dunes. On our way, we will see landscapes with beautiful dunes (the path won’t be boring). Upon sunset, we will camp in the middle of the dunes of Erg Loutide.
We will set your mobile camp in the sahara desert with traditional desert tents to sleep in and explore the simple nomadic life. We will enjoy the last night in the Moroccan Sahara desert with nomads’ music around the fire.
6th DAY: From Erg Loutide BACK TO M´HAMID EL GHIZLANE
You will wake up early morning to admire the last breathtaking sunrise in the Sahara where you’re camping. We will continue with the camel team after having a delicious breakfast. We will take you back to M´Hamid where we start our first camel trekking.

What do you wear for the camel ride?
Be sure to wear full and loose clothes on your camel ride, especially on the desert space tour. If you want to wear shorts, long shorts are recommended. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes are also advised to make your camel ride more comfortable.
