The full program for camel trekking in Morocco at M’hamid

Day 1: M’hamid – Sidi Naji

Our first day of trekking in Morocco will start from the M’hamid heading to the dunes in that region. We will find the camels’ team waiting for us at the starting point in M’hamid, to teach us how to interact with camels for the first time. and give us an overview of the itinerary of the trekking, we are about to experience in the Sahara. That includes the sights, we will visit, and the desert dunes area where we will spend the nights. Firstly, we will put your luggage on the camels, then we will go to the first destination of Sidi Naji, which we will reach after walking for about two or three hours.

At the end of Palm Trees Grove, we will stop for a break to rest and have lunch. After the pause, you continue walking to Sidi Naji enjoying different desert landscapes and sceneries. Upon arriving at Sidi Naji, we set up our mobile tents for the night.

Day 2: Sidi Naji – Erg Zahar

After a relaxing night in Sidi Naji, we will wake up to have breakfast and continue our trekking in the Sahara desert of Morocco. Our destination for today’s trekking will be the famous large dune of Zahar, the walk from Sidi Naji to Erg Zahar may take 4 hours or more. The trekking will cross a largely flat, plateau of Dried Lake and while you continue walking you start seeing big dunes. We will set up the camp at the foot of the dunes to take our lunch and relax.

Later, we get ready to explore the Erg Zahar to reach the highest point of the dunes admire the wind which sounds like a silent musical rhythm, and enjoy the sunset. The views over the highest dunes are marvelous. Overnight at the camp with the group enjoying the stories of the desert and dunes of Erg Zahar which is also called the screaming dunes.

Day 3: Erg Zahar – Erg Bougarne

Wake up early to watch the fantastic sunrise above the high dunes of Erg Zahar in the Sahara. Then, after having your breakfast, we take the camels and begin trekking and walking through the nomadic Sahara desert. The camel trekking will take about 3 to 4 hours before reaching the point where lunch will be served and pause at the same time. After the refresh, we continue our trekking adventure in the Sahara desert of Morocco with another 3 or 2 hours of walking, to reach the Erg Bougarne, the dunes are magical and offer a cool feeling. In the evening, we will set up a Berber camp to enjoy the night under the starry sky sitting around the fire and listening to the Gnawa music.

Day 4: Erg Bougarne – M’hamid (last day of trekking in Morocco’s Sahara desert)

On the last day of our trek in the desert of Morocco, we will start by observing the sun rising, Then you will have breakfast. we will go towards M’hamid. The trek will be about 3 to 4 hours of walking with camels from Erg Bougarne to M’hamid. during the trek, You will have a break to rest and have lunch under a shadowed tree in the desert (at half of the road). Next, we will continue walking with our camels and ride back via the mesmerizing desert landscapes until we arrive in M’hamid, where our 4-day trekking in the desert of Morocco ends.
