Discover the Adventure of a Lifetime: 6-Day Sahara Trek from M’hamid el Ghizlane

DAY 1: M’hamid EL Ghizlane – Erg Bartam

We will meet you to start trekking the Sahara from your hotel or camping site choice at M’hamid. The team will wait for you with camels and begin trekking to the Sahara desert. The camel Man and your guides of the trek will explain the most important things you need to know about the trek desert and what you will do. First, it’s important to teach how to wear your turban (Desert Chech), an authentic way to protect your head from the sun, how to trek and ride the camels and choose the best site in the desert to spend the night. After break for lunch, we will continue our trekking Sahara tour to Erg Bartam heading to the dunes, where we will set up our mobile camp for the first night in the tents in the Sahara desert.

Day 2: Erg Bartam – Erg Bougarne

Wake you up earlier to watch the beautiful sunrise above the dunes of Erg Bartam, then we will start our second day of the trekking desert. The first few kilometers will be breathtaking and easy to hike. Then, we will hike the flat and rocky ground of Hamada. The trekking Sahara will take 4 or 5 hours before we reach Erg Bougarne, where we will spend our second night in a Nomad traditional tent in the Sahara desert.

Day 3: Erg Bougarne – Erg Chegaga

That day will be unique because we will reach the enormous dunes of Erg Chegaga. After having a traditional breakfast at sunrise, we continue hiking again on the rocky, flat, and sandy area. While you’re trekking in the desert, the big dunes of Erg Chegaga will be seen even before reaching it. Once we arrive at Erg Chegaga, we will see the breathtaking sunset above the biggest dunes. The hiking dunes of Erg Chegaga will allow you to live a memorable desert adventure in Morocco. Erg Chegaga is a famous place that covers one of the highest dunes in Morocco and in Africa as well. The trek takes about 30 mn to reach the top of the dune. We will camp in these beautiful dunes in Nomadic traditional tents.

Day 4: ERG CHEGAGA –  Erg Tilhatine

The trek from Erg Chegaga to Erg Tilhatine takes about 4 or 5 hours. This desert trekking trip will be adventurous by this experience. After a relaxing night, you will cross up and down from one dune to another. The trek will be challenging, but the best thing is that we will be with professional trekking guides who have been trekking for several years and grow in the desert. You will enjoy the panoramic view of the waves of the dunes and admire the melody of the wind in the Sahara desert. Night in the tent at Erg Tilhatine.

Day 5: Erg Tilhatine – Erg Loutide

The trek will continue after having your breakfast, then you will walk for a few kilometers to reach the Erg LOUTIDE. There is total dunes. On our way, we will see landscapes with beautiful dunes (the path won’t be boring). Upon sunset, we will camp in the middle of the dunes of Erg LOUTIDE. We will set your mobile camp in the Sahara desert with traditional desert tents to sleep in and explore the simple nomadic life. We will enjoy the last night in the Moroccan Sahara desert with the nomad’s music around the fire.

Day 6: Erg Loutide – M’hamid El Ghizlane

You will wake up early to admire the last breathtaking sunrise in the Sahara desert where you’re camping. We will continue with the camel team after having a delicious breakfast. We will take you back to M’hamid El Ghizlane, where we started our first camel trekking.
