8-Day Marrakech Desert Tour, Detailed Planning:

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – ouarzazate

That day is unique because we will meet you in Marrakech for the first time, either in your accommodation or at the airport. Then, we start our 8-day tour from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert. After having the first contact with Marrakech, we will visit some famous sites such as the Koutoubia Mosque, L’mnara Garden, Secret, and Majorelle Garden. Lunch at one of the local restaurants. Later, we head to the most famous Kasbah in Morocco, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. The Kasbah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its history and gorgeous traditional Berber architecture. It’s an inspiring site for many directors who choose the site for filming. Also, famous movies were shot here such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After discovering this attraction, we continue driving to reach Ouarzazate, also called the Hollywood of Africa. Dinner and night in Ouarzazate. 

Day2: ouarzazate – skoura – kalaat Mgouna – Boumalne dades

We take our breakfast first then we continue our Desert Marrakech Tour by driving to Dades Gorges. We first stop in Skoura where we can see the beautiful nature, take pictures, and relax. Then, we drive via Thousand Kasbahs Road, along the line, you will smell the roses. Here you understand that you are in Kalat Magouna, known as the capital of roses. You can visit a local women-cooperative to see the processes of making roses products. Then, we take our lunch here in this beautiful village tasting local food. When you’re done, we depart for Boumalne Dades, where you can enjoy watching the beautiful mountains with the panoramic view of the Dades Valley. Overnight and dinner here.  

Day3: Boumalne dades – N’koub – Zagora – M’hamid

On the third day of our 8-day Marrakech desert tour, our driver will take through the Dades Valley road to reach the desert of Mhamid. On our way, we will pass through several small villages until we arrive in N’koub Village where we will stop to see some Kasbahs. N’koub is a village with the highest number of Kasbahs in Morocco. The village is located near the famous mountain of Jbel Shaghro. Tourists can discover the Kasbah of Ouled Athmane and Draa valley. Later, we will cross Zagora to reach Mhamid El Ghizlane village (which is also Mentioned as M’hamid), where we will spend the night in the desert camp.

Day 4: M’hamid – Sidi Naji Desert Dunes

Our Marrakech Desert adventure starts in M’hamid desert. After having our breakfast, the camel man will give you an overview of the camel trekking journey, also, he will teach you how to ride camels and treat them for more safety. Then, we will put what we will need and our luggage on camels and start the trekking. Firstly, we will explore the oasis of M’hamid and go on our trekking towards our camping site which is Sidi Naji Dunes. As an information M’hamid is the top destination in Morocco Sahara desert for trekking, hiking and camping lovers because of what it offer to visitors of different types of deserts . We will make our wild camp  for the night in Sidi Naji.   

Day 5: Sidi Naji – Erg Bougarne Desert Dunes

The 5th day’s morning, we will wake up to have our breakfast and continue our trekking in the Sahara desert of M’hamid. Our destination for today’s trekking will be the beautiful sand dune of Bougarne, which we will reach before lunch.
During that day’s trekking trip will cross a largely flat, plateau of Dried Lake and while you continue walking you start seeing big sand dunes. We set up the camp at the foot of the sand dunes to take our lunch and relax for a while. Later, we get ready to explore the Erg Bougarne with the goal of reaching the highest point of the dunes, as from there you will admire listening to the wind which sounds like a silent musical rhythm, and enjoy the sunset. Also the  scenes from up the highest point of Erg Bougarne dunes are marvelous. Finally, we will spend the second night in desert of our best Marrakech desert trip at the wild tents in Erg Bougarne.

Day 6: Erg Bougarne – Picnic – Erg Chegaga

That day is unique because we will reach the enormous dunes of Erg Chegaga. Start the day by watching the Sunrises and having a traditional breakfast. Next, we are going to trek from the rocky desert, flat, to sandy spaces, as we are trekking in the Sahara desert. And when it is time for lunch, we will settle under a shadowed tree to drink some tea, have lunch, and have some rest. From there, we will continue to Erg Chigaga Dunes by car. Then you will see the big dunes of Erg Chegaga from afar.

Once arriving you will see the sunset from above the highest dunes in Morocco and North Africa. Getting up the Erg Chegaga dunes will allow you to live a memorable desert adventure in Morocco. Erg Chigaga is a famous place, covering one of the highest dunes in Morocco and Africa. The trek takes about 30 minutes to reach the top of the dune. You will have dinner in the desert camp. Following dinner, we will play traditional Berber music around the campfire. And you will spend the night in Nomadic traditional tents in the desert camp.

Day 7: erg Chegaga – Taznakht – Ait Benhaddou

In the morning after having your breakfast, we will leave for reaching Ait Benhadou Kasbah as the final goal of the day. There We will change the path on our Morocco Desert Tour from desert trekking style to start discovery and exploring the Moroccan culture and famous Kasbahs. We will drive to Taznakht, a small village in the Ouarzazate region known for handicrafts and traditional products. We will visit a local women-cooperative for traditional carpets. Later, we arrive in Ait Ben Haddou where we will spend the night.

Day 8: Ait Ben haddou – Telouet – Marrakech

After having the last breakfast in this 8-day tour from Marrakech to the desert, we leave back to Marrakech but we will stop to visit the impressive Kasbah of Telouet, an ancient fortress that showcases the region’s rich history and architectural beauty. Admire its intricate design and learn about its historical significance. Upon arrival in Marrakech,  and we end our tour in Morocco.

What do I wear for the camel ride?
